Latest from PTR 3.1

I was looking through some of the recent changes to the PTR on MMO-Champion and wanted to share some of the ones that make me happy.. 😛

  • Gift of the Naaru (Draenei Racial): The heal has been changed to an instant-cast direct heal instead of a heal-over-time.
  • DRUID: Innervate: This spell no longer costs mana.
  • DRUID: Mark of the Wild and Gift of the Wild can now be cast while in Moonkin form.
  • PALADIN: Exorcism: Now can be used on any target and has a 100% chance to be a critical strike when used on Undead and Demons.
  • Flint and Tinder is no longer necessary for creating a campfire. You’re just that resourceful!
  • Ingredients such as Spices, Apples, and the like have been removed from most cooking recipes.
  • You no longer need to learn cooking from books. The trainers have finally done their reading and are able to teach you the same thing.
  • The time needed to catch fish has been reduced.
  • You can now fish anywhere, regardless of skill. Every catch has the potential for fishing skill gains, but you are likely to catch worthless junk in areas that are too difficult for your skill.
  • You no longer need to learn fishing from books. The trainers have finally done their reading and are able to teach you the same thing.
  • You can no longer fail when Mining, Herbing, and Skinning.
  • Glyph icons have been updated so it is easy to distinguish between classes.
  • New dungeon maps have been added for all Wrath of the Lich King dungeons.
  • The calendar now supports a guild-wide sign-up sheet, allowing the event organizer to invite his or her entire guild.

This is obviously just a sampling. There are other good things in there too, these are just a few that I was interested in. Most are crafting things and making it easier to level up crafting from the beginning. I’ve not been leveling my fishing on Fimlys recently.. The changes in 3.1 might get me back to “angling”. Also, the Dungeon Maps are just awesome.. Biggest thing for me with that is to be able to track where you are in a dungeon now. Cartographer had maps but they were hard to see where you were because they were built from the mini-map views.

Anyway.. these could always change I guess.. Oh, we did a 25man OS/Naxx run last night.  Got through the Spider Wing.  Had issues with OS+1 so reverted back to 0 drakes. Had a bunch of slowdowns for people going afk. We also did it with a sub-optimal number of healers.. I’m sure that doesn’t help.. :P  Ok.. Tonight we might continue the Naxx.. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.

P.S. oooh.. And Fizz (my mage) dinged 66 last night too.. After the raid.. Woot!

It’s F-yur-iss

Getting closer. Furis is getting closer to 65. Played him last night with the crew and got even more of Zangermarsh under our belts. I’m sure I’ll be well on my way to 66 when we decide to leave for “greener” pastures. I’m pretty happy with his progress though. We still haven’t done any instances yet, but maybe if we can get our rested XP back up it will be worth it.

Tonight is going to be a 25man OS/Naxx run. Hopefully things will go smoothly and quickly and we can move farther than we have been. That’s it.. Short and sweet today. Have a good one!

The Lemma Approacheth

I didn’t play much this weekend because I was out of town. I did get on Friday night and join the guild in a few “older” raids.  We 10-manned Mount Hyjal and tried to get Kael down in TK. We were successful in MH, not so much in TK.  We mainly just ran out of time. Most people in the group (and in the guild) have never seen this version of Kael (just the one in MagT). So, we had to learn the fight before we could be successful. We just didn’t have the time.

I had to skip Saturday and then I was back at my house Sunday night with enough time left to level my Pally to 64! So, you ask, what does this have to do with some Lemma?  Well, the lemma I am talking about is a dilemma.

I had talked earlier, I think, about having to figure out which toon I would level from 65-70 and then which from 70-80… My mage is still 65 (although getting closeer to 66) and my rogue is 70. The Pally is 64 now and I’m sure the next time we level, he’ll hit 65.. So.. What do I do?  Do I:

  1. Level the Paladin to 80
  2. Level the Paladin to 65 and then switch to the Mage and then the Rogue (at 70)
  3. Level the Paladin to 70 and then switch to the Rogue
  4. Level the Paladin to 65 and dualbox the Mage and him to 70 and then to 80
  5. Level the Paladin to 65 and then switch to the Mage to 80

There are more, but I’ll stop with the ones that have me starting on the Pally. So, what do you think? One of the big considerations is professions. My mage is my Inscriber and Engineer. The Paladin is BS and Ench (not very high in either) and the last is my Rogue whom is a JC and Ench. I would love to level the Rogue so that I can more easily do the daily JC quests and get more mats for Ench while leveling.

I have a feeling I will be leveling the rogue with the rest of the group and trying to run solo on the Paladin.. I guess we’ll see what happens.
