I signed up for the Amazon Unbox service and attached my Tivo Series 2 to it. You get a free $15 credit when you do this, so I finally tried it out and got 3 shows.. Blue’s Clues! For my kids.. They like blues clues and they always want new episodes, so I picked 3 ones they have never seen before and ordered them ($0 Woot..).
We’re watching them while I type this… Actually they are really good quality. Definitely compared to recording it from my cable connection. Very clear, pretty much DVD quality as far as I am concerned (not that the kids care).
I haven’t tried any of the movie rentals or movie purchases (I might try a rental while I still have credit on the system). I’m not sure I would PAY to get these shows, but it is possible. The only issue is that they don’t have enough selection that can be downloaded to the Tivo. As they expand this selection, there might be more draw for me, so we’ll have to see.. However, I have an Xbox360 and can buy their tv shows and such through there.. Of course, my wife and kids don’t know how to get to those, so stuff for them is easiest on the Tivo.
